BUFFALO RAPIDS IRRIGATION DISTRICT NO. 2

March 10, 2021
The Eleventh Regular
Meeting of the members of the Buffalo Rapids Irrigation District No. 2 at
Terry, Prairie County, Montana, was held on the Tenth day of March, 2020 at 1:30
p.m.

Also present and participating were: Tim Kortum,
Manager, and Pat Davis, Treasurer.
President
Barry Rakes called the meeting to order, stating that all necessary and
advisable business be conducted during this time and that notice had been
received by each Board Member.
Thereupon,
President Barry Rakes announced that legal notice had been given and a quorum was
present so that the meeting was legally and lawfully ready to transact
business.
The
Minutes from the February 10, 2021, Board Meetings, were approved without
corrections and, or additions, by Lance Kalfell, seconded by Barry Rakes. All in Favor. Motion Carried
FINANCIAL
REPORT:
Pat
Davis presented current budget figures which included payroll and expenditures through
March to all Board members for their review.
A list of invoices to be paid was submitted and forms for the Prairie County
Treasurer to transfer funds in the amount of $48,069.49, to cover payroll and
invoices were signed. March 15th estimated payroll: $16,203.18, March
estimated invoices $11,425.74, March 31st estimated payroll: $20,069.49. Investment transfer was signed to invest the
remaining monthly District No. 2 cash balances in the amount of $474,391.40 with
Prairie County Pool. Warrant numbers
from February 12, 2021 to March 11, 2021 range from 26227 to 26268. Pat informed the members of the Board that in
addition, a transfer was made in the amount of $621.16 from System Rehab
reserve account into District 2 Cash O & M to reflect the Pumping Plant walkway
construction expense.
Pat Davis relayed to the members of the District 2 Board that the 2020 Audit has been scheduled for the first week in April. The treasurer's report was approved on a motion by Barry Rakes, seconded by Lance Kalfell. All in Favor. Motion Carried.
MANAGER’S REPORT:
Mr. Tim Kortum informed all present
that all pumps are in that were pulled for routine maintenance or repair. The crew has finished constructing and painting
new metal walkways for the Shirley pumping plant and are now installing them in
the plant. The burning crew will report
to work Monday next week as well, to gear up for burning Drains, Ditches,
Laterals, and Canals for the start of the 2021 water season. The District will also begin work on cleaning
drains and canals, along with a few other repairs on the ditch, before the
start of the season.
Tim reported that the electricians
who were hired to perform maintenance on the pumping plants are currently
working in the cubical on the plants electrical components for the District.
Tim stated to the members of the
Board that he had spoken with the MACO attorney and there was nothing to report
on the ongoing case against Buffalo Rapids Irrigation District No. 2. No updates on the Water Rights for the
District at this time.
Mr. Kortum and Performance
Engineering and Consulting are continuing to work on the preliminary
engineering for multiple proposed projects in case funding becomes available to
the District.
The meeting was adjourned on a
motion by Lance Kalfell, seconded by Barry Rakes. All in Favor. Motion Carried.
